Just Asking
New Yorkers For Parks
Many of the schoolyards our kids use here in the New York City area are mixed - use parks: from 8AM to 3PM to school has the use of the playground/park; after 3PM the area reverts to public use.
Unfortunately, many of these 'parks/playgrounds' were formed more than 50 years ago by demolishing buildings, and then covering over the rubble with concrete. Sinkholes and dangerous cracks may occur at any time, and sometimes does (Booker T. Washington, spring 2001). To make these areas truly safe for our children requires a minimum of about $1 million. Where is the political will to make this happen for our children? |
