High/Scope Perry Preschool study Publishes It's 40 Year Research on the Benefits of High-Quality Early Intervention

Lifetime effects: The High/Scope Perry Preschool Project

LINK

The High/Scope Educational Research Foundation has just published its 40 year research. This landmark, long-term study of the effects of high-quality early care and education on low-income three- and four-year-olds shows that adults at age 40 who participated in a preschool program in their early years have higher earnings, are more likely to hold a job, have committed fewer crimes, and are more likely to have graduated from high school. Overall, the study documented return to society of more than a $17 for every tax dollar invested in the early care and education program.

At a time in the UK when the Government is publishing its 10 Year Childcare Strategy this research together with the recent EPPE report on child development of three to seven year olds reinforces how the High/Scope Approach in the UK represents a major implementation solution for organizations in child care and early years education.

New!! A summary of and questions about the age 40 results of the High/Scope Perry Preschool study (pdf format)
