POZYCKI WILL NOT SEEK REELECTION TO COMMON CAUSE CHAIR
Author: Citizens' Campaign
Press Release - Jun 1, 2005

Harry Pozycki announced today that he will not seek reelection to the chairmanship of Common Cause when his term expires this June so that he can devote his full time and energy to the Citizens' Campaign. The Citizens' Campaign is conducted under the auspices of the Center for Civic Responsibility. Pozycki, who has served as Chair of Common Cause New Jersey for the past seven years, had been dividing his time between the two organizations.

Planning to take advantage of the increased interest in government and politics that occurs in New Jersey Gubernatorial election years, the Citizens Campaign will greatly expand its efforts to teach regular citizens the legal and political skills needed to hold elected and party leaders accountable and will launch a statewide legislative agenda that goes beyond campaign finance reform and addresses the broader issues of citizen empowerment. The details of the agenda and the twenty-one county 2005 campaign will be unveiled at a statehouse media conference on Tuesday, June 14.

Citizens Campaign leaders noted that Pozycki is better positioned to lead this ambitious campaign, since he will now be freed of time-consuming administrative and fundraising responsibilities for Common Cause.

Harry Pozycki said, 'The key to sustaining reform momentum and taking back our government from the party bosses and big money players is to identify and train powerful citizen leaders. That is what the Citizens Campaign will do and that is now my full time job.'

Common Cause New Jersey Vice-Chair Dave Gruol will assume the Chairmanship, Gruol, a resident of Morristown is a long-time Common Cause board member and reform activist. Lauren Skowronski, the current Executive Director will remain in that position.
